Outraged Aussies are hitting back at foodies who continuously mistakenly give credit to for an Australian sauce dispenser invention.
Soy, from , slot has been eating her way through Japan over the last week and described the country as ‘futuristic’ for the culture’s ‘attention to detail’ when it comes to food.
But little did she know Aussies have been using the same product to carefully squeeze tomato sauce onto pies and sausage rolls without any fuss or mess since 1990.
The ‘squeeze-on’ sachets tear open at the top when squeezed backwards, allowing a small portion of sauce to come out.

In Australia the ‘squeeze-on’ sachets (pictured) tear open at the top when squeezed backwards, allowing a small portion of sauce to come out – perfect to season a sausage roll or meat pie without the fuss or mess
In the clip, Soy can be seen enjoying three meals on separate occasions – a McDonald’s garden salad, a noodle salad and a hotdog on a stick – and spreads sauce over each dish.
‘Isn’t that crazy? All you have to do is squeeze,’ she says.
But many were quick to point out the Aussie-made invention.
‘That’s actually an Australian invention for our tomorrow sauce on meat pies!!’ one commented.
‘Australia has been doing this s*** for years mate,’ another said, a third added: ‘Excuse me, actually created in Australia.’
‘That’s how we do our sauce here in Australia too,’ a fourth said, but admitted the Japanese seem to have taken the idea to ‘another level’ with dual mustard and tomato sauce dispensers used on hotdogs.
Australians weren’t shy at letting Soy know the original of the invention. ‘That’s actually an Australian invention for our tomorrow sauce on meat pies!!’ one wrote
Others from different parts of the world quickly grew envious of the clever product.
‘Why can’t we have this?’ one woman from New York wrote.
The plastic ‘squeeze-mate’ tomato sauce dispenser was designed by Sanford Redmond in 1990 for Masterfoods.
An original dispenser sits proudly on display at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
